This series explores how crime affects the reputation of a community, guilt often being associated with the location rather than the perpetrator. I created anthropomorphic studies, “mug-shot” type diptychs documenting crime scenes. To provide context, I underlined the twin images with a description copied from www.spotcrime.com, a site that provides a real-time catalogue of crime. My goal of employing a Bertillion-type analysis was to elicit viewers’ critical reflection on the negative associations of the neighbourhood.
